    Know yourself and your limits
I think this guy may be genuine but boy is he out of his depth in some of these. It sort of works with Rogan who can always play the ‘I’m just a comedian card’. Feels less okay here when Fridman plays up the (seemingly not very strong) MIT connection as a crutch of credibility. At what point are you just a useful idiot for the powerful?

    Grok 3
Grok 3 blamed JD Vance not Zelensky or even Trump for instigating and sabotaging their meeting in the Oval Office. Also I haven’t queried but suspect Grok 3 would declare Dave Smith is a full on dope.

    Unusual
Someone sent me a link to a Lex podcast, it took me 2-3 months to finally listen to it because I didn’t know who he was and it was a couple of hours long. But over time I started listening more regularly and have grown to really appreciate his unemotional but intelligent style - and a few choice words along the way. I’m an ME by education/profession and am used to thinking things through, not having emotional reactions. Here I get that too but about subjects I don’t much about but know are important.

    Lex is Meh
When he is interviewing people within his sphere of knowledge he is good. He takes his time. When he interviews people who have led interesting lives, he is entertaining. When he engages more broadly into politics or certain social issues he sounds like a 14 year old boy unable to fully understand the significance of what the adult he is interviewing is saying.

    Biased, but obvious about it
Love the podcast, particularly when Lex lets the other participants talk.

    Not Antisemitism, dude.
Douglas Murray acts baffled over how/why the world is so disturbed/disgusted by Israel’s genocide & torture of Palestinians IN ORDER to land grab. HERE’S WHY: Evidence overwhelmingly proves it. It’s unfortunately a factual matter & history will continue to prove it.

    Where is the beef?
I’ve been listening to you guys talk about the abundance agenda. I appreciate and respect what you’re trying to do but I don’t see any real specifics in particular with respect to housing. I grew up in the Bronx I lived in New York. I have a picture of that environment I’ve spent some times in San Francisco, I have a picture of that environment It seems like you would need a lot of 40 and 60 story apartment buildings on every available inch to really bend the cost curve in a place I understand with the earthquakes San Francisco would require a different approach Where and how are you going to do the big bills? There’s plenty of room in the south Bronx there’s probably room in upper Manhattan but the buildings have to be really really tall. Another point I have to make is that there’s a horrible crime problem in the existing public housing projects in New York City. It’s hard to talk about without involving racial sensitivities, but it’s possible to virtually eliminate crime in those projects if the will exist to do it. Please show me some big stuff that I actually can believe can happen in my lifetime I’m not inclined to trust your judgment because you probably supported the idiotic high-speed rail projects .. I think about the suburbs that surround New York within, saying an hour .. Leviton started out about $10,000 a unit it’s probably around 1 million now can you really cram high density housing down the throat of the Township in the New York suburbs Thank you for your hard work thank you for giving some sort of beacon to the left that is a disarray I wish you the best.

    Modi interview
The Modi interview was disappointing. Lex avoided difficult topics: democracy backsliding, censorship, snd institutional erosion. It felt more like bidirectional ego-stroking than inquiry. A missed opportunity and a soft platform for a controversial leader.

More insightful when you listen knowing the podcaster’s views
While I once found Lex Fridman’s podcast insightful- especially when he focused on guests from the technology sector- it has recently become unsettling due to his reluctance to ask obvious and necessary questions when interviewing prominent figures such as former presidents and business leaders. This tendency often allows extreme statements to go unchallenged. Over time, I’ve come to see a pattern: Fridman carefully advances Russia’s messaging, subtly employing a form of “bothsidesism” that consistently tilts in one direction. Once I recognized this, the podcast took on a new kind of insight- revealing not just ideas, but also its underlying intent

    Not a Trustworthy Source
He presents himself as an honest and impartial individual, but his actions consistently reveal a strong bias. Whenever it benefits him, he feigns naivety to avoid accountability or difficult questions. This pattern of behavior makes it clear that he cannot be relied upon for accurate or objective information. His selective ignorance and clear partiality undermine any credibility he claims to have, making him an unreliable source whose motives should always be questioned.

Lex doesn't bring enough knowledge and counterpoints to his interviews, lowering the quality of discourse, lessening the intellectual fruits it could produce. Also he's just dry and boring to listen to.

Lex is not honest and pretends to be naive.
  • I'm just a listener.
It's always a pleasure to listen to this podcast.
Lex invites the most interesting people to his table. Of different spheres and views, which makes podcast even more interesting to listen to.

Ha half your podcasts saved for later and have made it through very many. You’ve changed the way I think and more importantly What I think about for the better. Thank you Lex

    Authoritarian Enabler
Lex, I enjoyed your podcast for years. In recent months you have allowed your platform to become a springboard for the Trump Administration which is now unsystematically dismantling our democracy and spreading suffering across the globe. I believe you are motivated by love, but you are empowering hate. Please wake up and reverse course.

    Not good
Lex is what dumb people think smart people sound like. He throws softball questions to planted guests to push an agenda. There are never any thought provoking or difficult questions. He sympathizes with warmongers while ignoring the fact that the other side was invaded. It’s almost like he is a Russian agent pushing propaganda against the west. Oh wait…

    Not Dumbed Down
Love the full length discussions. He allows thoughts to develop and follows the train of thought wherever it needs to go. Great interviewer.
  • ohforthesakeofgod
    Compelling guests, disappointing interviews.
I’ve listened to many of these and always with Lex could respectfully challenge his guests a bit more. It’s not a matter of wanting conflict or “gotcha” moments, it’s a matter of wanting guests to be asked to think more deeply about their opinions. Another reviewer expressed appreciation for his “casual curiosity” and I suppose I find that quality to be a weakness in this context. Contrasting his interview of Marc Andreessen with Ross Doutthat’s interview of the same illustrates the issue. Exactly the same issues are discussed, Andreessen expresses the same opinions; the difference being that Doutthat’s more educated and thoughtful questions push Andreessen to explain his positions more deeply. In several cases it reveals a guy whose arguments quite creaky. In other cases, he comes off in a more positive light, very smart, very thoughtful. But in EVERY case of an interview like that (not celebrating Doutthat here, but the style of interview), we are able to learn so much more about the guest and their positions. Lex is like talking to a bro at a bar who agrees almost entirely with you. Sure we’ll hear how you think on a superficial level, but that’s it.

Smart people can also be dumb.
Just listened to the Andreessen episode. Amazing how a smart man can so badly misunderstand history and society as well as fail to see the things he despises manifesting right in front of his eyes. Smart people can also be dumb people. Also, Lex could occasionally show some courage and push back on obvious falsehoods. This is just tech-bro propaganda.

    Pathetic Tech Boy apologist
He use to have smart comment and be neutral. Obviously being fair and honest didn't make him as much money. Now another entitled white boy joke. "Just asking" biased "questions"

    Lack of structure to show
Meandering and a bit rudderless. Guests are great but there doesn’t seem to be much structure to the show. Advanced academic discussion topics are not defined in plain language and this takes away from much of the discussions. Does not seem to be much of a plan or deliberate approach for organizing these long form podcasts. Questions often out there and not posed with confidence or force of purpose.

Truly disgusting how far Lex has fallen. Used to listen to him often. Now I will only listen if someone covers his content. Grateful he introduced me to Destiny. Even with Destiny’s foul language he’s still less Evil than Lex

    Repeat Much?
Bad interviewer. Lex asked the same question three times, and kept repeating the same phrase. His impartiality came through on every difficult question he asked.

    A Gift to the World
No media source has enlarged my world, wisdom and heart more than this podcast. Lex’s casual curiosity, spread over hours of conversation, leads the biggest thinkers to unfold in ways I’m not sure even they were aware was possible. Truly it’s a gift to the world. Thanks for sharing, Lex.

    Yawnfest
Weak interviewer who’s in over his head. I know English wasn’t his first language, but I’ll give him a pass with the one star - he had no choice since Rogan told him this is his job now. Can go guess the famous Russian author he always refers to? Very highbrow. Also a fashion icon like all tech bros.

Blocks everyone on X who disagrees with him
Lex constantly says he loves everyone, yet he blocks everyone on X who disagrees with anything he puts forth. Furthermore, he states he spent hundreds of hours preparing to interview Zelenskyy, yet he proceeded to ask the most sophomoric questions.
  • Therealjim1
    Not great…
Lex’s interview with Volodymyr Zelenskyy was pretty bad. Lex’s line of questions were pretty terrible at informing audience or advancing conversation. At multiple times it seemed like he tried to get Z to share his entire negotiation strategy. Then, he randomly asks what Z thinks of Elon Musk. What?? This was my first episode. Not coming back. Wish I could get the time back.

    Great Stuff
    Great Podcast!!! Great interview!
  • ***ELIZA***
    Devoid of Character
It continues to baffle me that people enjoy this podcast. As an interviewer, Fridman has no charisma and no talent. He rarely asks incisive questions that might take his guests off-script or gives any interesting perspective on the subjects discussed. The goal seems to be to pander to a very niche tech-bro audience with a narrow worldview or set of interests. He gets high profile guests because they know he’ll flatter and never challenge them.
