I started listening to the Popcast just before the pandemic. And honestly, it was one of the things that saved me during that time and in this time after. So thankful for the delightful idiocies I hear each week!

My favorite escape

I used to be a diehard fan. I loved the light hearted self deprecation, hilarious commentary on popular culture, and overall silliness. Jamie and Knox have slowly transitioned their content to excessively mocking Christianity, crossing the line to sacrilegious and it is UNCOMFORTABLE; pushing far left political views ad nauseam when this podcast used to be an escape from the serious; and hero worshipping Erin for an hour, who is actually not at all funny because she is relentlessly try-hard and not at all a Bible scholar per her claim. Jamie and Knox- mocking God but then saying “but it’s okay, I’m a Christian,” is actually not okay and doesn’t align with anything in the Bible. Also, if something in the Bible makes you uncomfortable, you don’t get to decide it’s not literal because it makes you feel better. Shame on you for using your platform to mock the God you say you love and to point people away from Him. I’m embarrassed to say I used to be such a big fan, because now I don’t want any association with The Popcast.

I am updating my review that I left years ago. This used to be my very favorite podcast and I even subscribed to Patreon. But the tone changed in the past 2-3 years. Talking about “gummies”, diglets, enjoying s*x scenes in movies has ruined it for me. The patriarchy talk and criticism of Christians has gotten old. So I’m done. I hope they return to their roots and return to the quality content they used to produce

Imagine your two hilarious best friends decided to go hard in the paint for pop culture current events, sometimes inviting your third best friend (who knows next to nothing about pop culture) to weigh in… these dummies keep riffing and sometimes dunking on A to D list celebs and the shows/movies they make… and even when you’re already peeing just a little, they won’t stop with the jokes. Imagine that chaos and delight showing up in your podcast feed every week (or if you’re like me, ad-free 2 or 3 times a week), reminding you that nothing really matters except the things that actually do matter. When the world is on fire and you just need to escape to a quirkily decorated panic room, Knox & Jamie & Erin will be there with the conversational equivalent of Nerf guns full of Kool-Aid to make the world go away for as long as you need them to.

I used to love this podcast. It was lighthearted, smart and hilarious. Some of the “Nos” episodes are absolute classics. Over time, though, it’s become a lot less fun and more political, critical and condescending. It’s also frequently immature and crude. I canceled my Patreon a few years ago for those reasons but listened to regular episodes occasionally in hopes that the podcast would return to its roots. Unfortunately, I don’t think that will happen and it’s at the point where, as a Christian, I feel like I probably shouldn’t be listening to this podcast. Since I’ve been a Patreon supporter, I know that negative reviews do get mocked and I’m sure this one will, too. I do wish Knox and Jamie the best. They’re smart, hardworking and talented. Sadly, the podcast just isn’t for me anymore.

I am a longtime listener and made the switch to the Friends With Benefots level on Patreon as soon as they announced it. And I swear, those episode behind the paywall are my new favorites. The vibes are never protected but always just right. So much goodness.

Cannot recommend this podcast enough, despite the fact that 90% of the time Knox and Jamie name a celebrity I don’t know who they’re talking about. There are so many episodes where I don’t know what they’re talking about. (This is a reflection on me living under a rock not the knowability of their content.) It doesn’t matter, they’re always hilarious. I’d listen to them read the phone book.

I look forward to these episodes every week. Love the laughs and appreciate staying up to date on current events.

I’m posting a review because Jamie told me too. And they deserve 5 stars, I’m not just doing to because she told me to. They might light of the serious, but in a super respectful and appreciated way. And they also make a big deal about not serious things, which is what I need in my life right now.

The title says it all. Love this show and their delightful idiocy. You will not regret (sorry double negative) listening and inevitably laughing along to this show.

This is the balm my soul needs every week. With everything going on around me I need the laughter from Jamie and Knox! They bring the current world into perspective through humor and thoughtful insight! If you need a release, to just forget life, and have a moment of fun then this is where you’ll find it each and every week! This is the only podcast you need!!!

I absolutely love listening to Jamie and Knox every week. The banter is quick and hilarious. They play off each other well. The lighthearted moments I really need every week and then some. AND they are good people, willing to take a stand

Sadly for me the hosts have just become too mean spirited and raunchy. Gets cringy gross at times, esp as they are Christians it’s not a good witness

In the past, the team has navigated the line of funny and appropriate, but in the past 2-3 years, it’s gotten more and more past the line. If you’re looking for a funny, entertaining, and clean podcast, I don’t think this is it anymore :/

The only podcast that I listen to faithfully every single week. Knox and Jamie are my besties, they just don’t know it yet.

Sadly making the call to stop listening :( it used to be a favorite of mine and was the only podcast I ever paid for. Over the years I’ve listened less and less as the tone has seemed to get meaner and more condescending. Another review mentioned that negative the reviews get mocked on Patreon which feels unsurprising.

No longer fun. No longer a highlight of my podcast lineup. Sorry to go. I miss the banter and the fun that was traded for the snarky comments and judgment.

My husband and I love listening to The Popcast! It’s great to have both Knox and Jamie to make us laugh and give us the best TV, movie, and book recs. Truly my favorite podcast 🎉

Knox and Jamie are hilarious and chaotic in the very best way. Listening to them is like having a conversation with close friends. Also, you guys need to calm down about the paywall situation. So what? This is the best way for them to keep going without eventually shutting down. So think about it, would you rather lose this forever, or keep it with one less episode. Your choice.

I used to recommend this podcast all the time. So it’s a sad to say goodbye. I listened to all the episodes but the ones I was invested and kept listening for have been moved behind a paywall, so the pay off to listen to the ones I didn’t like is gone. I willingly listened to a bazillion ads, but for this reason Sharks… I’m out.

I have listened for years but it just seems different now. It used to be a fun escape, but I started noticing more woke and mean commentary. I canceled my patreon and decided to unsubscribe.

This used to be my favorite podcast of all time. I never missed one. But now, all of my favorite content is behind a pay wall. So bummed. The nos of… as well as flavor town were my absolute favorites. Bring them back! Sad to know that new listeners will not be able to really jump in and know how great it is unless they pay, which they won’t if they are brand new.

I’ve been a listener since 2016 and for me the show has simply changed. Not in the political way other people are going on about, just the quality and content. It feels like there are so many more ads now, everything is moving behind a paywall, and there isn’t as much pop culture content anymore. I guess if you drink every time Jamie talks about herself it might be a fun listen.

I would never entertain the thought of listening to another podcast (if there even were other ones out there). By far the best $12 I spend each month. If Knox and Jamie ever stopped podcasting, I would throw 12 dollars away every month in memory of the Popcast.

For shame! Generation Jones is THE new category to bridge that gap!

You know what’s sad? They are so very funny, smart, informative- And clean! I agree with so many points you all make with how important representation is in culture. But anymore its: THEPATRIARCHYwhitepeopleTHEPATRIARCHYwhitepeopleTHEPATRIARCHYwhitepeopleTHEPATRIARCYwhitepeople and on and on….. I’ve listened since 2015 (And I fully expect to be doxxed on Patreon) so I do have that para social bond that feels like a bit of breakup. But it’s time for me to go.

Their laughter is therapeutic and listening to all three of them discuss pop culture/life is somehow stress relieving. So thanks for that!

I love being a part of this community!

I have been listening since Knox did all the editing and Jamie made cake pops. I don’t recall a disappointing episode; it’s my favorite, and the only podcast Patreon subscription I maintain. Reliably fresh takes on current American culture for adults. I’ve never been disappointed in any of their recommendations & I’m picky. Also: caution, may cause spit takes and belly laughs.

This is my favorite podcast, and I enjoy it every week. It doesn’t take itself too seriously- it’s just something fun and funny to give you a break from the serious things. I have been listening to their show since 2016, and the show is better now than it was then as they have continued to refine the format and double down on what works. When I'm in a bad mood, I put on this podcast and feel 10x better after the cold open plays

Hi! I stumbled upon this podcast three years ago because of a typo when I replaced the D with a P right before starting up my lawnmower to mow my grass. I live on a corner and I listen to the popcast every week when I am mowing and when I have to stop the mower, and cross my legs to stop from peeing on myself while laughing hysterically out loud, I get funny looks from the neighbors and some honks by passersby. Thank you, Jamie and Knox and Erin for entertaining me while doing the most mundane of tasks. I almost look forward to mowing…almost.

Literally my favorite podcast ever. It’s my comfort podcast, my go-to, just so good.

You guys, please, you have got to stop with the Kate Middleton stuff. I’m not an internet rando - I’ve supported all of you for years across all your platforms at the highest tier. The way you handled her illness wasn’t funny, but what’s crazy to me is that you just keep doubling down, even still in your most recent 569 episode. One of the things I appreciate most about all of you is your commitment to seeing the nuance - Erin, Kate is not a “colonizer.” Surely as Americans we don’t want to all be held individually responsible for our country’s historical wrongs, right? She was sick, she told us she would need time away, and you guys utilized her illness for content and laughs. The reviewer was asking you to do better.

These two are hysterical and always cheer me up, plus I’m always getting great book, show, movie, and music recommendations from them. I love things all pop culture and they cover such a great range of topics, plus their “NOs of ....” episodes are absolutely hilarious.

I spend my day deep in theological texts and Bible commentaries. The last thing I want to listen to is something that will make me smarter. The Popcast is the perfect break from reality and smart things. Because they perfectly educate on things that don’t matter.

The new Popcast episode every week is a bright spot in my feed. Jamie and Knox (and Erin) are funny, kind and relatable, all while making shows that are roll-on-the-floor funny. Thank you!

I have listened to the Popcast for several years, and I’m not sure what had happened but the crew is just not funny any more. Are Knox and Jamie over podcasting? The enthusiasm and humor has slowly evaporated and they come across that they don’t enjoy it anymore.

This used to be a podcast about poking fun at celebrity and pop culture. Now it’s more about making fun of regular people who the hosts find beneath them. This makes it more difficult to enjoy or find funny. There’s usually something in each episode that’s a “punch down.” But I’m not es enlightened as Knox and Jamie so what do I know.

I began my (long overdue) journey as a BFOTS over Christmas because my 16 year old and I were driving from NC to TX to se family, and the Popcast is the only thing we can agree on. He loves Knox’s take on things, but his favorite is the “Erin of Grievances” - we rewind and listen to those over and over! I started with the 7-day free trial to get us through the 17 hour drive, but then loved it so much I made it permanent. Thanks Popcast for bringing me and my son together over some good laughs!

I don’t care or know much about pop culture but I listen to the Popcast every week because Jamie, Knox and Erin are such a good time. Bonus: I’m now proficient enough in pop culture that I surprise my teens by sometimes knowing more than they do. This team is so fun- thanks y’all!
