    Very much enjoy this podcast
I am extremely picky about accuracy and interesting content and this podcast nails both. I like that you can tell this is a passion project and appreciate the amount of preparation the host clearly puts into each episode. I also valued the host (briefly) sharing her experience with pregnancy loss early in the show. It showed considerable bravery and vulnerability and helps bring awareness to a difficult, often ignored experience that impacts many, many people each year. Bravo!

Navigating, showcasing and underscoring the intricate treacherous complexities of a term paper read aloud over and over in a high school classroom. Where’d the storytelling go?

    It’s fine.
I like the subject, but sometimes it just sounds like a professor who is bored with their own lecture. Dry reading of a script, complete with this-is-where-my-joke-goes jokes, like it’s a lecture she’s read 500 times.

    The best
I’ve been listening to this podcast for a very long time. I love her story telling and content. This is one podcast I look forward to every week and I do listen again to ones I’ve heard before.

One of the best Tudor history podcasts ever
Heather is the best, I love the range of topics she covers from how the prepared for winter, holidays and festivals, housing etc. as well as Royals and big notable historic events. She adds a level of detail that makes you notice how much she really loves the subject. I work 11 hour days at a warehouse and this podcasts makes my shift so much better! The two negative reviews I did see on here come from some real insane Karen’s 💀 the podcast is great

Found Heather through watching the Tudors recap pod!
Love Heather! As a fellow Tudor historian I’ve exhausted pretty much all podcast options available to me and most are fine… Heather is great! Ps. Please finish the watching the Tudors podcast series you and your partner started years ago!

    No
I will not listen to your episode based on the commercials that lead in.

    My favorite podcast (and podcaster!)
Heather is incredible. She calls herself a storyteller, and she is spot on: Tudor history becomes colloquial yet steeped and in research on her show in a way I’ve never experienced before. I love it! Thank you for your body of work, Heather! I’m only through 2019 but I’m catching up. :)

    Eh
I’m not interested anymore in listening to white people speak with breathless wonder about “frontiers” and “new worlds” and “ages of exploration” without discussing the colonial violence, rape, genocide, and theft that thrust their societies into heretofore unknown “refinement.” MISS ME W THAT XO

This is such an interesting and educational podcast! I love the show.

One of My Favorite History Podcasts!
I have always loved this time period but get easily confused with timelines, etc. Heather explains each subject in a way that I can remember details easily and you can tell she is very passionate about Renaissance English History. Plus, I think she has a beautiful podcast voice! If you are a new listener, you must go back through her episodes and listen from the beginning - each episode is so interesting!!

Great content, but the mouth smacking...
I enjoy the content and find it interesting, but I can’t hear anything except for the mouth smacking after almost every sentence. I would love to listen to this, but it’s just too distracting.

    Great Podcast!
I listen to this podcast on my way to work every morning and love it!! It’s way too short!! I’ve already run out of podcasts to listen to, keep them coming! Would love to hear about proper etiquette and the day in the life of a Royal maybe?
  • IndianaJones88
    Poor quality
This podcast is lacking good research and constant mispronunciations. Many historical figures reduced down to TV tropes and depictions that leaves them as nothing more than a caricature of the real person. Monotone host, inaccurate, and tedious to listen to. I do not recommend.
  • kevinanator
    Interesting topics
Just discovered this podcast, I appreciate taking on small topics that give much better insight to the period than broader topics do. I find this to almost be too short! Like the great book you don’t want to end, but I have lots to catch up on luckily.

    Fantastic History Podcast
This was one of the first podcasts I listened to years ago. Even though this is one of my favourite periods of history, I still learn new things from Heather! They are easy to listen to and follow. If you dont have time for a 2 hour history epic, these are much easier to keep up with. I see complaints about sound. Its true, occasionally it isnt as great, but really, it’s free, I cant complain.

Great podcast except for the incessant lip smacking...

    Lovely podcast!
I love Heather’s style of approachability and relating our history to the present and to humanity overall. Her passion and interest in the subject matter is contagious. It’s obvious she really enjoys sharing stories and insights and connecting with her audience. I’d recommend her podcast to anyone who enjoys Tudor history!

    Love LOVE this!!!
I absolutely LOVE these podcasts!! I have been interested in the 16th century for prolly 30+ years. I’ve read books about the Elizabethan period, like the white queen, the White Princess, Elizabeth and many others. But Heather gives us the real history behind all these people we see in the many beautiful portraits and read about in the historical fictons! I could listen to her expound on all her knowledge for many hours. And in fact, I have!! I can’t wait to meet her in person!!

    Fun, insightful, and creative
This is a great, topical, engaging podcast by a woman who truly loves the subject matter she portrays. If you’re curious to know more about the history or culture of the Tudor period, you’ll definitely enjoy Heather’s podcast. Check it out!

    My favorite podcast.
Each topic is so interesting. I learn something new each episode. Heather is such a great storyteller; she is relatable and not stuffy. Her voice is also soothing!

    Many Pros and Many Cons
This podcast was the first podcast I ever listened to. It’s special to me for that and it exploded my knowledge of Tudor England. Since starting it I have watched so many historical shows and read historical books on this era and did my own research about people of this era. So it is a great podcast to get started with and it’s easy to follow—as a Masters of History Major I can assert that this is NOT the case with many many historical commentaries. I enjoy that Heather revisits topics through interviews with other historians. That being said, the sound quality of a lot of episodes can and will drive a listener batty. There is a hiss in the microphone that kills my ears, and some of them are just terrible quality. And although I love the revisiting of topics, the chronological order is lost and topics very disconnected. So overall, I continue to listen because I do enjoy it, but there are many things that can be improved.
  • THewbideaux
    Great subject matter
I’m enjoying the podcast but the background noise is disconcerting and it’s very much read like a script. In reading some of the other reviews, if anyone has a problem with feminism, the definition of which is plainly “equal rights for women,” they need to ask themselves why. And Donald Trump is a horrible human being- this coming from an American woman.

    Great podcast!

    Aweful
If alyssa milano had a podcast, this is how it would sound. The first episodes were charming, but now has turned into feminist revision. The historically worthy episodes are actually the work of others in the UK.

    Great Podcast!!
I have been listening to Heather’s podcast for the last 4 years and always enjoy it!! Great subject matter and my daughter and I enjoy listening in the car.

    Poor Audio!
I don’t understand why she can’t get a consistent, understandable audio!? I put up with it for awhile-but she’s been doing this for years! I get that she lives in Spain-invest in some audio equipment or rent a space twice a month that has equipment to make the audio understandable. The “Tudor Summit” was THE WORST! Probably interesting topics-but her voice was super loud, guest voice was super quiet w a heavy accent AND cutting in and out; next interview guest is garbled; next one is over-modulated. I’m done fighting to hear. No longer a listener.
  • NimueoftheBigWoods
    I just love this podcast!
I always want to save a few episodes so I could potentially binge-listen to Heather’s informative, factual stories. But I can’t do it. I *have* to listen as soon as a new podcast shows up in my feed. Start from the beginning. This show has been running for several years so you have many hours of listening pleasure ahead of you before, like me, you are always caught up. Celayne

    Great!
I’m really enjoying this podcast. I never knew the Tudors were so fascinating. I’ve heard bits and pieces but now I know so much more.

    Truly enjoy this show!
I love British History and the Tudors. This podcast is wonderful and very enjoyable. I can’t wait to listen to each new episode when it drops.

    Wow...Way to Alienate Listeners
I listened to several of these podcasts and really enjoyed them. Then, as many on the left can’t help themselves, she had to bring Donald Trump into a podcast when she was talking about xenophobia in Europe. Your hatred for Trump is more important than your podcast or at least respect for some of your listeners? I was ready to subscribe to her podcast maybe even help out. Not now. Really dumb move.
  • Luzzerr
    Yay Tudors!
I love this podcast, I’ve learned so much about the Tudors! I would like to know the name of the song at the end of the podcast it sounds absolutely beautiful.

Namely: episode length and sound quality.

    Wonderfully researched and presented!
I’ve listened to every episode of this show and it’s fantastic! In 20-30 minute episodes Heather is able to tell stories of the English Renaissance extremely well! My favorites are when she focuses on her forte, the music of the time. Highly recommend it to anyone who loves English history at all! Plus, her work on the Tudor Summits, various Facebook pages, and her website are great as well. Very engaging host!

    Excellent Podcast
Picked up Heather’s podcast from David Crowther’s History of England. Well written and delivered by someone who obviously has a great appreciation for this period of history, but still manages to deliver an engaging podcast. Also love the mixture of music in the podcast as well, as it was a prominent part of the Tudor period. Well done and highly recommended!

    My new favorite
Heather is a great storyteller, such great history, so interesting and well done.

Superb quality history — and FUN
While not a historian of any sort, biographies and history have formed most of my reading since elementary school (5 decades ago). I also reenact theAmerican Revolutionary War era battles, camp life, and living history. I also have a personal history library of at least 250 books (among a total of 7000). I’ve been to a large number of seminars and workshops, both skill-based and academic. This podcast touches on SO many topics in areas of life besides what students are typically taught (kings, battles, and dates). You’ll learn and enjoy great stories at the same time! Call the kids, homeschoolers‼️ SUGGESTIONS: medicine, esp. as practiced in the home; food; schooling of any and all kinds, for all levels of society; clothing. I’ve only listened to a handful, so please pardon me if you have already covered them.

    Love Heather!!
I’ve listened to many podcasts for years. Heather’s podcasts are my fav. Her voice is pleasant, she is witty and so knowledgeable. Her Tudor TV podcast got me into her and now I’m listening to all her English Renaissance History one’s too! I’ve shared numerous episodes with people I know who could listen to a few. She touches on so many interesting topics. Thanks Heather!!! You are my favorite! 😺
