Movie degreeDoug HessI like his style. Great interview with Dr. Kelly re Tyrone Power. Update——please mute mic when coughing and clearing your throat. Note—Mr. Hess, please stop mispronouncing names of movie stars, i.e., Barbara STANSWYCK AND LILLIAN JISH.

DCluceNot a lot of depthI’ve listened to many of Doug Hess‘s interviews on Forgotten Hollywood. It’s somewhat enjoyable because of the subject matter, but it is so frustrating to listen to many facts being left out about the stars, and it’s a very sanitized version of them! But the most irritating thing is he does not seem to have studied the material beforehand. It sounds like he’s running through the information in the podcast which results in him mispronouncing their names outright butchering them really! It’s just so annoying, I need to look for another podcast. If this is his area of interest, I would think that he would be more schooled and dedicated to presenting the material. When I’m listening to these interviews, I often find myself arguing at the radio in the car because the names and facts get mangled so often!

ebookworm52For every movie buff…this podcast is a must-listen! Doug has some interesting guests/subjects. I’ve learned about a number of new film books that might have escaped my intention. Doug’s interviewing style is very relaxed and informal which makes it sound like two old friends are talking film. Bravo!

jenlin94So soOk- I love the idea of this so I’m going to keep listening - although I was very disappointed in Doris Day episode. Since that was one of earliest ones I’m going to hope it gets better than this - moderator is difficult to listen to because of hesitancy - stops and starts and - not well prepared. Got facts wrong - repeated things several times - just disappointing-

2gd2b4gotnRemembering TinseltownIt’s been fun listening to the first couple of episodes of Forgotten Hollywood! Doug, whom has a very soothing voice, shares some good information about Hollywood’s past history of stars and movies. I enjoyed learning about Doris Day and his “Movies that March” episode was good too! I’m looking forward to hearing about some of the great moments, movies, and stars as Doug recalls the Yesteryears of Hollywood!
