A wonderful guide through a first watch of Sopranos
Vik Singh and team do a great job analyzing and celebrating this terrific TV show.

    Too Many Spoilers
Full of spoilers. Don’t listen til you’re completely finished.

    Miss the co host dynamic
I tried listening to a recent episode that was Vik only and it was an unpleasant experience where the first several minutes discussed it one small aspect of catholic theology amid constant interruptions of annoying sound bites taken from various sitcoms. Older format was better

    There baaacck….
I was so excited when I got that notification yesterday that there was a new episode. This was my first non sports podcast I ever subscribed to. It was one of those things that kept you sane during Covid. The original pod showed me different ways to look at the Sopranos when I watched it, things I missed while watching before. One message to the author, I know you were bummed you never got Chase as a guest before….Don’t be, he did not deserve to be a guest. Your work on this pod over the years in my opinion is just as good as his as the creator of the Sopranos

    Nice when there’s a group
I really enjoy this podcast when the whole group is together. I particularly enjoy Niia, but unfortunately as the seasons go on, it’s increasingly Vik by himself. I find him to be really annoying with the incessant basketball references, some of his descriptions of female characters on the show, his insistence on calling Tony “T”, and constant exclamation of “Ohhh!!!” all the time as if he’s Paulie or something. I find the podcast falls a flat when Vik is by himself. To me the Sopranos merits multiple perspectives and benefits from a conversational approach to analysis. I thought at least for the final season, particularly the final episodes that he’d get the group together to do it justice. Instead he’s by himself. Really a bummer. It’s still interesting to listen to, but I really find it kind of pointless without the group of 3 discussing things.

    Best Sopranos pod by far
Much better than the show’s the actual former cast members have made.

    Movie
You said you were doing a review on the movie. The pod is incomplete without it. Come in step it up.

I fell in love with this podcast, but then…
TLDR: started strong, interviews fantastic, episode dives entertaining with full cast, as the seasons progress the other hosts leave and it’s just Vic doing episode recaps, which I did not like because it made me sad. Full review: This podcast was at its best when Vic had Niia and the two other dudes (or at least one of them) on the show. They had great energy and their dynamic made for some entertaining episodes. But after a couple of seasons each of the supporting characters began to disappear. At one point it was just Vic and Niia, and that was enough to carry the show, but then…it was just Vic. When it came to the interviews, Vic did a great job. But the episode deep dives rang hollow with just Vic. I was no longer sitting in a room with friends cracking jokes and philosophizing the sopranos. It was now lonely, and sad. I felt bad for Vic, as if his friends died or moved away. In his monologues I felt a sadness and yearning. The interviews were top notch and they are reason enough to check out this podcast. The Robin Green and Terence Winter interviews were fantastic. I’ve listened to each more than once. All in all, this labor of love turned out to be a work of art and I appreciate Vic putting in all this effort and for the most part he succeeded.

Debt of gratitude for this Pod Cast
Absolutely, hands down, the best. I’ve listened to every episode at least twice. The depth, the perspective, the detail and the respect for the show this podcast has for The Sopranos was beyond and above. Vik, the fact you were able to start and finish this with the same energy is amazing, but the Made in America episode, Thank you. Thank you for doing this. Chefs Kiss

    Fantastic Deep Dives
The clarity that Vik brings to bear on the Sopranos has been truly enlightening for me. The humor and fun but relevant asides are a real treat. I may not always get the NBA analogies yet it doesn’t dim the great insights.

    Bravo
Vim, this podcast changed my life almost as much as the series. Well done my man…well done.

Truly a love letter to the Sopranos
I’ve been listening to this podcast since the start and it’s become - much like the show itself - an old friend that never fails to deliver. Thank you Vik for making my favorite Sopranos podcast ever, and I’ve listened to many of them! You truly are the GOAT, and I’m looking forward to more from your new show The Regularness. Makings of a varsity level podcast
I love all the deep dives. Learned so much. Plus all the soprano jokes and sayings Cracks me up every time. I’ve been doing them for years with blank stares from people. Found a kindred spirt. Sad that it’s almost over would listen to it all over again. If there was a re re watch/listen I’m all In.

    TROTTERS
Vik does a great job researching most issues. He misses a few but that’s not important. (Trotters refers to horse racing run at Yonkers Raceway. Couldn’t believe your whole crew didn’t know this) A degenerate gambler would go from card games to trotters Aqueduct Raceways for thoroughbred racing. So when Tony says “ I thought you’d be at the trots, “he means sulky horse racing not errands or bathroom break. Niia adds a different and interesting prospective but Vik’s obsession rules. Vik is a bit pedantic but his enthusiasm makes up for it. I think The Wire is much better than The Sopranos, but this podcast is so interesting that it’s worth a listen anyway

Soprano Podcast for Hardcore Soprano Fans
Great deep dive analysis of the Sopranos, episode by episode. Vik has a deep love and passion for the show and it is very obvious. Makes you think about a lot of scenes in episodes that are often overlooked. It leads way to show the genius of the sopranos writing. The one criticism I have for the show is the over the top sidebars/tangents that this show goes on. It can get annoying and frankly exhausting. Especially when the tangent has nothing to do with the sopranos at all. An example would be if something is in the background that may or may not have no significance to the show and what is currently taking place but the host somehow finds a reason to discuss it and give you the full history on that topic. If only the host shortened these tangents, or better yet did away with half of them, the show would be much more well received and easier to digest.

    Vik is Pure Poetry
I love the episodes with cast and crew interviews. I LOVE the more recent episodes in which Vik goes through the episodes by himself. His passion is unmatched, and none of his cohorts were up to his level. Every podcast doesn’t have to be a speculative conversation. A concise monologue is just fine with me.
  • SFG_Fan
    So so
I really liked these guys for the first few episodes. The College ep really blew it for me. They missed the mark so many times. Peters not killing Tony; not understanding the connection between the busts. Come on, guys.

    Foregrt about it
Absolutely brilliant a true lover of the show, Vik your passion takes along for the ride makes feel like we are part of the cast bravo keep up the great work.

    Deep Dive Delights
I love the passion and preparation that goes into each podcast, and the deep dives into all details. No detail is too small. Don’t let the haters discourage y’all!

    Deleted after 1st episode
I was so excited to start listening to this podcast when I first found it. After starting the journey I sat horrified when the host didn’t remember that Christopher and Carmela were cousins. I just couldn’t get past that and I am guessing it’s a great show but when they can’t get that key piece of show history right I just couldn’t continue.

    First time Soprano watcher
We just got HBO max and decided the first series to watch was Sopranos. Found this podcast after binging the first season. This podcast brings light to nuances that a first time watcher would miss. However, spoiler beware: I listened to the M.I. Interview and it spoiled Christopher for me. That won’t stop me from continuing to recap each episode with my Poda Bing crew.

This podcast is a passion project
I love the passion and detail behind this podcast it is obviously a labor of love! I did NOT like the guest who was a writer on Entourage and I really appreciate when Niia is on the show to break up the dudefest. I know nothing about basketball and I don’t care about the casual chatting between the men when it isn’t about the show itself but I appreciate the deep dives and detailed analysis and it enhances my experience of rewatching. Thank you for this podcast!

    This is garbage!
I gave this a listen, but this pod is so lost in minutiae that they do not understand anything they are analyzing. For example, “I figured you for the trotters,” is over analyzed to the point that they miss the obvious meaning that Tony assumes Scutino would rather gamble on the harness racing at the Meadowlands than get in a high stakes poker game. This is like every banal and over thought out conversation you had in grad school.

    Fun, insightful listen
I’m finally watching The Sopranos for the first time, and listening to Poda Bing has enriched the experience. Vik and crew bring so much passion and attention to detail to each episode, and I’ve learned so many things about themes, tidbits about the actors and creators, etc., that I never would’ve known otherwise.
  • Danwofday1
    Best Sopranos Podcast
This is by far the best rewatch companion along with interview podcast. Love all of the actor-driven ones but Vik dives in to all of show’s nuances. His interviews with the cast and crew are insightful and just the right amount of appropriate fan boying. I’ll be sad if this ends, just do it all again Vik when you run out of episodes.
  • Kmont21
    Terry Winter
The Winter interview was the most in-depth and fascinating interviews I’ve ever listened to. Loved every minute of it.

    Reply to listener kenthenoble
In response to kenthenoble - spot on brother! I couldn’t have said it better. It’s a huge turn off listening to these brilliant, but, leftist shmucks bash the President. Vic, we subscribe to PodaBing because your show is smart and insightful and you are clearly as passionate about it as we are, thanks for producing this quality podcast thus far. but, maybe chill out with the “ova here’s”;)

    Hey Ken the Noble
Such a delicate snowflake, so triggered. Maybe don’t support racists / sexists / homophobes / transphobes, and you won’t have to hear grief about how they do all those things.
  • J2theMorgan
    Very repetitive over here
It’s a good podcast don’t get me wrong but omg Vic doesn’t have to say “over here” 15 times a episode.
  • kenthenoble
    Terence winter
It was going good for 52 minutes or so and then the leftist hate filled comments about the president of the United States. They’re too many sensible conservative minded Americans tuning in to this otherwise extraordinary podcast to even think of alienating. Come on Vik keep that nonsense in check. I’m reconsidering my interest in this production. My suggestion is to check your Hollywood opinions at the door and remember the narrative. Thank you, Ken from New York.

    A Hit Is a Hit
Poda Bing is the saving grace of these strange times in quarantine. Vik and and his team bring enlightened interpretations and levity to what is the greatest tv show ever made. Not only do I enjoy the in-depth dissection of episodes, but Vik’s interviews with Soprano’s talent and creators are insightful and entertaining. Poda Bing, like it’s inspiration The Sopranos, is timeless.

    Sopranos analysis at its finest
I’m enjoying my 4th time through the Sopranos with Poda Bing as a watch-along companion. Vik and the team find tons of fascinating details and Easter eggs within the show, and are entertaining and funny while they do it. Interviews are also great; plenty of surprising stories about the show and its subsequent culture that you would never expect.

    My Go To Sopranos Podcast
At 1st I had started to listen both Poda Bing & Talking Sopranos & truthfully, this one is waaay better. I understand that Michael Imperioli has some background in acting, directing, etc. However, Steve Schrippa I believe it is (Bobby Bacala) do too much talking about outside stuff, Michaels Broadway stuff, who’s he worked with, etc etc so that eats up A LOT of time. However you guys don’t mess around, some background stuff.. maybe and then it’s right into the episode discussion along with the best part.. Audio clips from the show. Keep up the good work

    All due respect...
I can’t say enough about Vic and his Poda Bing podcast. His in depth, scene by scene breakdowns have given new life to my love of the Sopranos. His passion and dedication to each episode lead to insightful observations. Thank you Vic! Getting to re-watch the Sopranos after your analysis has been truly a gift!!

    Great deep dive
I’ve honestly listened to so many of these episodes more than once. This show brings even more depth to one of the deepest shows in TV history, and every time I listen I learn something new about the show in general, the actors and actresses, and each episode.

    The Don of podcasts
Just discovered this podcast and man, what a delight. Whether you are new to the Sopranos world or a hardcore fan you will love this pod. I’ve watched the series many times and still end up hearing things i hadnt thought about or noticed before. The hosts do an amazing job. Great chemistry without trying too hard to be funny. They’ve had some excellent guests that have added a ton of insight into the behind the scenes machinery of Sopranos. I would highly recommend

Incredible as a Stand-alone or a Show Companion
I’ve listened to this podcast more than anything else over the past few months. It has highlighted so many themes and easter eggs that have made every rewatch so much more enjoyable. The banter between the hosts is so entertaining and the different interviews Vic has with cast and crew provide insight wanting you to watch episodes over and over again.

    Great podcast and host
Vic does an absolute stellar job for any lover of The Sopranos. Vic carefully breaks down each episode into a deep dive of each episode and great interviews with those who made the shows. Being someone who didn’t have the show growing up, I finally feel like I have someone that can create dialogue around the show.

    What a Great Show
I love this series, it’s extremely insightful, entertaining, and very well thought out. You can tell how thorough Vic, Niia, and John are almost as soon as you start listening. But they each bring their own perspectives about the show which makes this podcast even better!!!!!
