JcwallerOpportunity to learn from one of the bestThis is an opportunity to learn from one of the greats. It's a bit of the inside scoop on some of the thought processes and lessons learned. It's enjoyable and insightful.

BuffaloLax11Podcast has turned into an advertisement for becoming a memberUsed to be a staple of my triathlon and fitness education and was a former PP athlete but I feel that podcasts as of late are just advertisements for becoming a PP athlete.
-
DerTriathletGreat lessons for life (and sports performance)Almost everything Matt talks about is directly applicable to other aspects of life, although the primary focus is clearly triathlon performance oriented. Turns out what works for triathlon works on the job and sometimes even family life. The content well researched, thoughtfully put together into easy to comprehend language and entertaining.

TheFitLenderThe ShowIt is a must to keep any athlete balanced. I went from reading his book to listening to the podcast to being a part of the squad. I’ve been a triathlete for nearly 20 years, a coach and personal trainer since 2008 and continue to learn from Mr Dixon.
-

Visc@B@rc@1The Duality of Manthe Jungian thing, sir. Dixon is a sharp, intelligent well versed high performance coach. I enjoy his books and I wish him success. However, with his tone on this pod, it is a shame he did not choose to be an elementary teacher.

Krazii91Simply the bestAwesome podcast full of great information, tips, and heartfelt encouragement. Matt is top notch, honest, downn to earth, and humorous. The more you listen, the more you learn. Meat and Potatuhs!!!!

FizzybabyGame changerI just became a “squaddie” this year after listening to this podcast for about the last two years. I’ve enjoyed Matt’s very pragmatic and evidence-based recommendations. Especially if you are trying to figure out the ins and outs of endurance sports as a newbie, this is a great place to start. I’d also recommend this for folks who have been at it a while but have stopped seeing improvements. Good stuff!!!

@techandresAwesome Podcast! This is my favorite podcast. Matt provides amazing learnings on performance, life and fitting in sports into a busy life. He provides insights into to how to develop yourself as an athlete and as a person. Matt showcases how performance translates across sports, life and family. Amazing Podcast. As a Director of Engineering at a tech company, this podcast helps me understand how to balance life overall and how to fit sport in the overall puzzle of life. Thank you Matt and the purple patch team for putting this together!

Otis SupremeThe Truth!Matt is the TRUTH! I read his first book (The Well Built Triathlete) and still reference it on a regular basis. Actually met him at Sports Basement at the Presidio a few years back, along with three of his pro triathletes. He knows his stuff and has a passion for it, as evidenced by his body of work and this pod cast. I am especially impressed with how he’s helped me navigate through this pandemic thus far, while not ignoring what is going on in the world and the United States. Issues that some chose to either ignore or are afraid to address. Keep serving up the “meat and potatoes!” O. Dean Triathlete/Endurance athlete (Who happens to be African American)

hectortheprotectorfromdaytonAmazing InformationMatt is infinitely knowledgeable regarding triathlon, conducts amazing interviews, and is clearly an incredible leader. A great listen! MM

DLaymanSimply The Best, Better Than All The Rest!I’ve know Coach Dixon for 15 years. His tireless pursuit of providing innovative and proven coaching to countless athletes remains his hallmark. Thanks Matt for all you have done to help time-starved athletes everywhere perform better and become better humans.
-
jacketsbackerHe’s got you covered head to toeMatt Dixon is is GIVING AWAY some of the best coaching ever in this podcast! He’s down to earth, insightful and skilled at conveying some great new ideas and re-casting the tried and true that helps you use it all successfully, in your own practice. I look forward to his weekly episodes and sometimes I save up and binge on a long run. Thanks Matt!
-
FuncupcakesCoach Dixon is wise beyond his years!Matt takes a unique approach to coaching - very insightful and often counterintuitive. We’ve all heard just about enough of the “more is better” coaching. Refreshing to find someone who respects athletes’ time and long term outcomes. Big fan!

Cruise Director JeffAdd this Podcast to your Training CalandarI highly recommend adding this podcast to your weekly training calendar. Even missing just one can mean you missed a critical nugget of info or inspiration that could impact your goals. As a new-ish Squaddie who has listened to this Podcast from nearly the start, I can honestly say I have learned more with Matt than any other Coach. Oftentimes it’s the simplest things that make a difference. Purple Patch’s mantra of Nailing the Basics while leveraging the Pillars of Performance is not Marketing double-speak. It is the simple truth that many of us want to think “is not the answer to achieving greatness.” When in reality, the info shared on this podcast (and even more so within the PP Community) is ALL YOU NEED. Nothing more. One-stop shopping. What could be better? Because, news flash, that magic pill does not exist. But at least, Matt’s passion for making us better does. Jeff Lipschultz

PodTinkPositive and inspiringThis podcast always has a positive and inspiring message. It also has a great variety of shows; from “how to” advice to interesting interviews with a variety of guests from all backgrounds. There’s something for everyone and you don’t have to be a squadie to appreciate it. I found the past interview episode with the host’s wife, Kelli (sp?), to be very powerful as she described her experience as a mother and athlete. It sounded a lot like my own. Thank you for that! Great podcast for anyone who likes to move their body!
-
ladylux77Thank you.Your no nonsense way of breaking down how to become better versions of ourselves is quite wonderful. Love your approach and hope to join your purple patch squad in the very near future.

Brent A GKeeping it simpleMatt’s podcast is loaded with practical information on evolving and progressing in sports and life. In the endurance sports world, we can make it complicated quickly. Listening to his podcast, I have learned to “nail the basics” as he puts it and keep it simple. I’m seeing gains by following that thought process as a 40 year old age grouper and I’m excited to see how much higher I can go.
-
Swimfin13Four Words for 2020Love the back to basics approach. Not just the 4 words but the nail the basics reminder. Took notes in my daily planner to have them ready for constant reminder.
-
Cdouc301Great life balanceI really appreciate Matt’s balanced approach to triathlon. As a time-starved fitness enthusiast, Matt has helped me integrate sport into life. His clear and practical instruction has helped provide structure to my training so I can accomplish my fitness goals. I recommend Purple Patch to everyone I can.
-
Mule63Extremely helpfulI’ve been a runner and cyclist for years but have never tried triathlon until this year and I’m hooked. At 56 years old and a busy professional I have found Matt’s podcast (and books) extremely helpful in guiding my training, nutrition and recovery. I cannot remember how I came across Purple Patch but have listened to every podcast and can’t wait to listen to the new one each week. Now trying to decide if I should join the Squad!?

Knolly RiderTremendous help for my inaugural seasonMatt and the PPF podcast were an enormous help for reaching my first season tri goals. I completed an Oly, a 70.3, and a 140.6...all with goal achieving times and a smile on my face. I’m convinced Matt’s methods are not only effective in achieving goals, but also making tri a sustainable sport for years to come (especially important as I’m an older athlete). Thank you Matt and PPF!
-
CMH3boysInsightful, thought provoking and honestI have been training with Matt’s team for last two years and these podcasts are another demonstration of the culture and philosophy Matt brings to triathlon. I was very “random” in my approach to the sport, with little concept of recovery or nutrition and a volume approach to training. Fast forward 2 years I have much better balance (still have to fight my “do more” type personality- but now I have tools and context to do that). I love the honest, the embrace of failure and the lessons it brings that are shared through some of the episodes- it shows us a path for growth; and that live and sport are not linear. Keep up the great work!!!

Duke131333332No Strings Attached, Just Listen!!I was first introduced to Matt by a friend/ mentor who is a world class athlete and business professional. I was in the midst of training for my first ironman and was struggling with burn out. My coach at the time had a very old school and had a robotic approach to his coaching methodolgy. I was having a hard time balancing all of the workouts and training with my other obligations in life. After my ironman,I was done with endurance training and didn't see a way I could continue training the way I was. I didn't have any desire and was failing misrably with everything other than training. I started to listen to this podcast and immediately started to relate and understand some of the things that were caused my burn out. Listening to this podcast was something that truely helped revive me and show me that there were ways to balance life and training. I have never personally meet Matt but I have meet some of the Purple Patch coaches and I can't rave enough about them. My limited engagment with them has been much more meaningful and has helped me produce better results than the year I spent with private personalized coaching. This podcast has shed light on many areas I always wanted to learn more about. Coming from a different sport where I played and coached at a high level, I find myself always agreeing with the fundmental principles that Matt preaches. This podcast is for anyone, not just endurance athletes, that want to excel in life and sport.

Maru MichelenaThe beauty and beast of the sportDear Matt, Let me start by saying I listen to your pod cast every week, and I’m completely in love with them. However this is the first time I give a review (I’m so sorry it took so long). I just finished listening to the last pod cast, about failure and the experience Sara Piampiano had during the last two years. I’m just an age grouper who has been in the sport for 6 years, with some previous years of running. Most of the times I thrived and absolute every year I enjoyed and loved the process. And for the first time this year I felt lost, sad, frustrated, tired. After listening to your pod cast (I had to admit tears filled my eyes more than once), the spark and magic ignited again, I realized this year I lost the fun in the journey. So, thank you for giving out so much, thank you for sharing your knowledge not only about sport but about life. I look forward for every Wednesday to listen to what you have to say. Maria

SeyiarExcellentLove everything about this podcast. I keep learning more and more about triathlon training, nutrition, strength training and how to manage training and life. I look forward to each new podcast.

jsteinbrunnWay of LivingListening to Matt over the last two years has simply changed my life. Triathlon can be intimidating to a newcomer and this podcast has given me a welcoming full foundation on how to not only succeed in sport, but more importantly how to succeed in life. In a stressful world, incorporating Purple Patch fitness into every day has given focus, balance, fun, and resilience to my life and my family.
-
Jared_rsaGreat approach to balancing life, health and fitnessReally enjoy Matt’s approach to incorporating fitness and health within the context of real life. We aren’t all pro athletes and Matt does a great job making his approach applicable to every type of person. Thank you!
-
IvanYankFor the people with life outside of sports, who strive to be good at sportsGreat podcast for everyone who needs to find “balance” in life and keep practicing and improving in the sport they love. Purple Patch’s philosophy of giving weight to the non-tangible sides of sport (recovery, nutrition, family, etc) make the podcast a great source of information, for aspects of overall wellness that amateurs wouldn’t typically associate with performance improvement. Matt’s is always very well prepared for each episode and provides details in a well structured and concise way. I have lots of love for Great Britain and the Brits, having lived there in the past, and I always enjoy his plugs of Britishness. Matt is a sincere person, seems to be a great coach, and he puts together a very good podcast.

trems1337Great for all endurance athletesI recently started listening to The Purple Patch podcast in the last month. I am a CrossFit athlete that also does half and full marathons. This year is the year of the half marathon and I’m coming up to my Fall racing season. Purple patch has given me a ton of tips and coaching for my own preparation as well as preparing me for my upcoming offseason. All of the episodes age well so you’re able to dig into the past and find lots of quality content. Check it out!
