How is this all we have for softball?
Softball coverage isn’t great in general. Cookie cutter interviews with surface level answers that they recite over and over again. “I knew my team had my back.” Nonsense like that is most of every interview in this sport. But In the Circle is among the worst overall. Their commentary is unintelligent and uninteresting. Their interviews are plain and have zero depth. They take no chance to ask detailed, interesting questions that only the coaches or players they interview could answer. You have Alana Vawter on, an All-American pitcher from Stanford and South Carolina and you waste our time asking her about restaurants? WHO CARES! Anyone can talk about that. Ask her about things only she can answer! She said she only had two and half pitches in her arsenal despite everyone thinking you need five or six. Ask her why. Ask what she considers the third pitch. Ask why she only considers it her #2.5. Ask for her comparison of coaching staffs and conferences she has played under. Something. I could forgive some of this mess if the audio wasn’t a complete disaster. You have other audio playing in the back of podcasts. The quality is horrible. Victor’s is even worse. The intro sounds like it’s from a basement in the year 2004. I think you guys should completely revamp this show. D1Softball should find some real podcasters who actually know something about media.

    What are you doing!!
I really want to like this podcast and support you guys because you support college softball but taking half the show to talk about press box size and a weather man! Interview with another broadcaster and asking about how she felt calling games? That’s something you do in season not right after Regionals!! Talk about the teams and the players. Tell us what team had the best batting average, which team won with defense, which players carried the teams! You said nothing about how the games actually went, you just stated the obvious win and loss record! You guys have an awesome opportunity to stand out in the collegiate softball space and are dropping the ball with whining, complaining and self talk!!

    Bring Back 7innings!
When I slowly came to realize that ESPN’s 7innings podcast wasn’t coming back, I went looking for another. Then I found out about this one and was excited to finally have weekly insights again on NCAA softball. However, my excitement quickly dwindled for three main reasons: 1) The hosts. Their flippant and bro attitude toward each other and the sport comes across as out of sync with women’s softball. They seem like they’re just trying to one-up each other, rather than knowledgeably talk about the game in any meaningful way. Plus, their interviews are rather long-winded as they try to talk as much as their guests. 2) The content and format. They will sometimes venture off into other sports talk and even go into tiffs with each other. I came to hear softball, and while I appreciate the fact they want to do interviews (the Monica Abbott had its good moments), where is the discussion of the game, the mover and shakers, debates on that week’s rankings, players of the week, big wins and losses, etc. This is really my biggest issue with the podcast. But then there’s… 3) Sound Quality. From the intro to the hosts banter, it’s already low volume and has a radio quality to it, which could be okay until they get to the interview, then everyone sounds like they’re all speaking into one mic from 5 feet away. How does D1 not produce a better sounding show than this?? Look, I get that interviews are probably on Zoom, but I record that way as well and it’s amazing what a little effort and post-editing and EQ can do. So although I really wanna like this podcast, it just has too much going against it and is more annoying than informational or even entertaining.

    Solid softball pod
Solid information without the bias. You can depend on hearing solid and truthful stats and information without the usual conference bias. Take a note espn

    It’s great, but...
Love this podcast!! Great information, very entertaining. But- Vic needs better quality audio. It’s very difficult to listen to and hard to understand at times. Other than that, love this podcast!
